Why this exists

We kept meeting the same business. Six to twenty staff, good at what they do, a website built years ago by someone who has since moved on. They know it is holding them back. They get quoted between £4,000 and £15,000, decide it is not the right year for it, and carry on.

The frustrating part is that the site they actually need is not a £15,000 project. It is perhaps fifteen well-written pages, built properly, fast, findable, and kept up to date. The reason it gets priced like a large project is mostly to do with how the people quoting for it are organised, not with the work itself.

So we priced it the other way round: what does it genuinely cost to build and run this well, and what is a fair margin on that? The answer was £45 a month. We publish the whole lot on the pricing page and we do not negotiate it, because a price you have to haggle for was never an honest price.

How we work

• The person you talk to builds your site. There is no account manager relaying messages to a developer you never meet.
• We publish our prices. All of them, including what things cost when you leave.
• We will talk you out of it. If a site builder or a freelancer suits you better, we will say so — there is a whole page about when not to hire us.
• We build simple things. Fewer moving parts means fewer failures, faster pages and a site that does not need rebuilding in three years.
• Your domain is yours. Always, transferred on request, no argument and no fee.
