Affordable Website Design

Design & build

How we build your website

Every site we build is designed from scratch for the business it belongs to, built by hand rather than assembled from plugins, and live in about three weeks. You will spend roughly two hours on it in total.

  1. We talk

Twenty minutes on the phone. What you sell, who buys it, what the site needs to do, and what you want it to stop doing. You get a fixed price and a date.

  2. We design

You see a real design of your homepage, in your colours with your words, before anything is built. We change it until it is right. Nothing gets built on a guess.

  3. We build

Pages written, site built, forms wired up, analytics and Google Business Profile configured. You review the whole thing on a private link and mark up anything you want changed.

  4. You go live

We point the domain, test everything on real devices and hand you a short guide. Then we keep looking after it — that part does not stop.

What is included

What you get, on every plan

The difference between plans is scale — pages, features and how much monthly work is included. The quality of the build does not change.

A design made for you

Your colours, your photographs, your services, laid out around how your customers actually decide. Not a theme with the demo content swapped out.

Hand-built and fast

We write the HTML and CSS ourselves. No page-builder, no plugin stack, nothing loading twelve scripts before your phone number appears. Pages typically load in under a second.

Works on everything

Designed on a phone screen first, because that is where two thirds of your visitors are. Tested on real devices, not just a browser window made narrow.

Built to be found

Proper heading structure, page titles written for humans and search engines, schema markup, an XML sitemap, Search Console and your Google Business Profile set up correctly.

Enquiries that arrive

Forms that are short enough to fill in, protected against spam without a puzzle to solve, and tested to make sure they land in your inbox rather than a junk folder.

Accessible by default

Readable contrast, keyboard navigation, labelled form fields, sensible alt text. It is the right thing to do and it happens to help your ranking too.

The words

We write it, or you do — either is fine

Most people underestimate this part. Copy is usually what holds a website project up for six weeks, because the business owner intends to write it at the weekend and then the weekend has a business in it.

On the Business plan and above we write your key pages for you. That is not a copywriter guessing — it is a half-hour interview where you tell us how you explain the job to a customer, and we turn that into pages. You review and correct it. It is quicker for you and it sounds like you.

If you would rather write it yourself, that is genuinely fine and often better. Our guide to writing website copy that converts gives you the structure we use, page by page.

After launch

The part most people forget to buy

A website is not a thing you finish. Every plan includes the ongoing work that keeps it fast, secure, accurate and worth having.

  • Your monthly changes, made by us, without an invoice each time.
  • UK hosting, SSL certificate and domain management.
  • Daily backups, kept for 30 days and actually tested.
  • Security monitoring and 24/7 uptime checks.
  • Performance kept in check as content is added.
  • A named person on the end of a phone during working hours.

Questions about the process

How long does it actually take?

Two to three weeks from the first call for a five-page site, and three to five weeks for something larger. The variable is almost never us — it is how quickly photographs, logos and sign-off come back. If you have your content ready, we have gone live in eight days.

How much of my time will this take?

Around two hours in total on a standard build: twenty minutes on the first call, half an hour for the content interview, and the rest reviewing the design and the finished site. We deliberately design the process so that being busy does not stall it.

What do you need from me to start?

Your logo if you have one, any photographs you want used, your services and prices, and access to your domain. If you do not have a logo or photographs, say so on the first call — we will tell you what is worth paying for and what can wait.

What if I do not like the design?

You see it before anything is built, which is the point of doing it that way, and we revise it until you are happy. In the rare case that we are clearly not the right fit, we stop there and you owe nothing — you have not paid anything at that stage.

Can I edit the site myself afterwards?

You can, and we will set that up if you want it — but most of our clients find it easier to email us and have the change made properly the same day. It is included, so there is rarely a reason to do it yourself unless you want to.

Find out what your website would cost

Tell us what your business does and what you need the site to do. You will get a straight answer: what it needs, what it costs a month, and how quickly it can be live. No sales call, no obligation.

No pressure, no jargon, no obligation. We usually reply the same working day.
